Why It’s Important to Stay Physically Active
I often emphasize the significance of being physically active. Taking consistent care of our bodies is essential because time keeps moving forward, and how we adapt to it is entirely up to us.
I constantly look for new and challenging ways to keep my body fit. My role as the founder and CEO of ClickDo and Seekahost means my work schedule varies. Some days, I might only work for a few hours, while other times I’m glued to my laptop for long stretches. To stay effective and successful, I incorporate physical activity that fits my dynamic lifestyle.
Why do I prioritize this? Of course, I want to look good and feel healthy. But sports also foster important qualities like patience, consistency, and focus, which are vital in all areas of life. Furthermore, building endurance enhances your intimate experiences, creating confidence that resonates both within you and with your partner.
Trust me, everything is interconnected. By investing effort in every important area of your life, you pave the way for success.
My Current Favorite Activities Beyond My Business
Yes, I love my work and strive for innovation every single day. However, I also seek new activities to refine my skills, even in areas I’ve practiced for years. In today’s fast-paced world, there’s no such thing as knowing everything. Each day brings new information, requiring us to continuously learn.
Similarly, in sports, if you achieve 40 pull-ups today, you must set a new goal for tomorrow to avoid stagnation. This principle applies to any physical activity—progress is key. Consistency helps you exceed established standards, but motivation drives you to achieve even more. This mindset is essential not only in sports but also in work and personal life.
I’ve seen successful businesspeople struggle in their personal lives. Neglecting how we look and how our bodies function directly affects our mindset. When you lower your energy, you attract similar energies. Set high standards for yourself first, then for those you allow into your life.
Discover the combination that works for you. For me, it includes yoga, martial arts, calisthenics, gymnastics, and the gym. Let me explain why.
Yoga and Its Comprehensive Influence
Yoga has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. Whether it’s calming asanas, steady breathing, meditation, or power yoga flow, it’s essential to my daily routine. What I love about yoga is its adaptability; I can choose exactly what I need. After a weight training session, I can relax my muscles with specific practices. When I travel, a quick 20-minute power yoga session in my hotel room is often enough, especially on gloomy days when I can’t be outdoors connecting with nature.
I can’t emphasize enough the power of meditation; it’s a crucial part of my evening routine that I never skip. Yoga has given me so much, and there’s always more to learn. My brain works at a fast pace, so I need daily challenges to stay stimulated. That’s why I choose activities that match my rhythm.
Here’s a quick tip: every morning, after you wake up, drink a cup of hot cocoa and then awaken your body. If you don’t have a partner to stimulate your energies, roll out your yoga mat and do a few basic asanas. Start with a plank, transition to downward-facing dog, then flow back to chaturanga, and finish with cobra. Repeat this at least 8-10 times for an excellent morning routine. If you’re feeling brave, try ending with a crawl!
Martial Arts and Their Practices
From a young age in Sri Lanka, my days started with martial arts training. This routine not only toughened my body but also sharpened my concentration—an essential skill. I have practiced both taekwondo and Shito-ryu, and I continue to strive for improvement every day. The precision required in these arts demands significant mental focus and physical preparation, combining challenges that I truly enjoy.
As the warm months approach, I never miss my outdoor training sessions. I love being independent, and martial arts allow me that flexibility; I can practice anywhere as long as I have the right environment.
Taekwondo
Taekwondo is a Korean martial art that emphasizes high, fast kicks, jumping, spinning kicks, and various striking techniques. It seamlessly blends self-defense, sport, and philosophy, making it both a physical and mental discipline. Originating in Korea during the mid-20th century, taekwondo draws influences from traditional Korean martial arts and Japanese karate. The art covers an extensive range of kicking techniques and hand strikes, as well as blocks, stances, and forms (known as “poomsae”), which are sequences of movements.
Shito-ryu
Shito-ryu is a traditional karate style that originated in Japan, founded by Kenwa Mabuni in the early 20th century. It combines elements from various karate styles, particularly Shuri-te and Naha-te, showcasing the diverse influences of Okinawan martial arts. This style features a wide range of stances, strikes, kicks, and kata (forms), emphasizing both hard and soft techniques. Shito-ryu practitioners engage in numerous kata, foundational exercises for mastering techniques, timing, and movement. This style also focuses on proper balance and body mechanics, enabling smooth transitions between techniques and stances. Like many martial arts, Shito-ryu promotes values such as discipline, respect, and perseverance.
Both of these practices closely align with my life philosophy, which is why I incorporate them into my daily routine.
Calisthenic Gymnastics – The Power to Lift Yourself, Literally and Metaphorically
Calisthenic gymnastics is a discipline I’ve embraced more seriously in recent months, although I had been practicing it frequently before. It offers the ultimate freedom to train anytime and anywhere without needing any equipment—exactly how I prefer to operate, remaining independent from anything or anyone.
Calisthenics builds functional strength using your body weight, enhances muscle engagement, and makes everyday tasks easier. It promotes flexibility, improves your range of motion, and reduces the risk of injury. Additionally, it requires coordination and balance, boosting your overall control of body movements.
Practicing calisthenics anywhere suits those who want to work out at home or outside. Physical activity releases endorphins, which elevate mood, reduce stress, and enhance mental clarity. Joining calisthenics groups fosters community, offering motivation and support from like-minded individuals.
With clear tracking of progress through variations and challenges, calisthenics keeps workouts engaging and rewarding. The skills gained can vastly improve your performance in sports, martial arts, and dance.
This training elevates me to another level, and I absolutely love it!
Gymnastics – Flipping Above the Ground and Embracing the Freedom of Every Move
I often discuss gymnastics and the incredible feeling of breaking free from both physical and mental shackles. Gymnastics requires sharp concentration and a focused mindset. It may appear dangerous, but that’s what makes it appealing—overcoming fears and breaking away from the familiar.
Eventually, what once felt normal becomes laughable, igniting a desire for more. I thrive on activities that push me to achieve greater heights. After my recovery, I aim to jump higher, just as I aspire to excel in my business.
Executing a backflip in my garden is as exhilarating as enjoying a long, passionate evening with a woman I desire. Plus, while searching for gyms for this training, I discover various like-minded communities, which I find incredibly rewarding.
In short, sports aren’t just about participating—they’re about thriving wherever you want to be.
The Gym – The Place Equipped With Everything You Need
The gym is the ultimate place to select the training that suits your needs. It’s where you can unleash your potential—focusing on abs today and shoulders tomorrow. With all the equipment at your disposal, you’ll find everything you want, and sometimes even more than you need. This abundance is a fantastic benefit; you walk in, and bam—everything is right there.
Exercise releases endorphins, elevating your mood, reducing stress, and alleviating anxiety and depression. Regular fitness routines boost your energy, making you feel vibrant throughout the day. Plus, fitness isn’t one-size-fits-all; with a variety of activities—from yoga to weightlifting—there’s something for everyone. It also encourages you to listen to your body, deepening your understanding of your strengths and limitations.
As you know, I love traveling. If my hotel has a gym, you can bet I’ll be there, surrounded by equipment. I train whenever I have the chance, so if you want to find me, just head to the gym—that’s where I’ll be, ready to show you a workout series!
In all these activities, I discover something new. I learn and want to know more.
New skills in sports translate into new skills in life. Some will bring you joy, while others will forge your physical and mental strength.
But at the end of the day, you’ll find you like yourself even more.
Dive and try something new for you!
